How it all began…

Joanne Klose, mum of three boys, had a long-held dream of running a café with a relaxed, homely atmosphere. In 2014, she initiated a home-based business, crafting a variety of homemade pies and cakes in her kitchen. Firstly selling these treats at local markets during the weekends provided her with a meaningful activity while raising her sons.

As the boys grew older, Joanne transitioned to mobile food vans: she used to run three mobile coffee vans with her husband Bryce, allowing her to balance her role as a mum and fulfill her entrepreneurial aspirations and her passion for cooking.

When the premises next to Drakes Supermarket came up in 2023, the mum-of-three jumped at it and so realizing a dream that had been on Joanne’s bucket list for quite some time. Her husband Bryce had been very supportive of the new venture, working behind the scenes that no one sees.

Belive in your dreams,
work hard…
and they’ll come true!

The Little Vintage Cafe in Proserpine

Our cafe, situated next to Drakes Supermarket, officially opened its doors on October 4, 2023. While facing challenges typical of any business, the community response has been positive.

Joanne’s goal was offering a nice, homely feel with an industrial vintage touch and she wanted to evoke the comforting nostalgia of homemade meals, inspired by her belief that “less is more” when it comes to food.

The menu reflects this philosophy, aiming to replicate the simplicity and quality of meals reminiscent of a grandmother’s cooking. We prioritize using local products sourced from nearby small businesses, emphasizing the importance of freshness in their offerings.

“Seeing what we’ve achieved and seeing our little cafe filled with conversation and laughter between families and friends is what it’s all about.”
